My "shiny" little secret!
It’s been a whirlwind of a year. A move into a new home, a new state - Maine, our oldest daughter got married and we have a new puppy! While that is all exciting I have been feeling my creativity take a down turn. It’s like how I think gardeners feel when they can’t get their hands in the dirt!
You know I love a good painted piece of furniture and lacquer makes me swoon! But sometimes you want a quick fix and don’t want to spend the money for a professional lacquer job and these days it isn’t only expensive, you have to get in line! So, without further “ado” let me share my “shiny” little secret!
Fine Paints of Europe’s Marine Yacht Varnish. Whenever I want that really glossy sheen, this is my go to. I have tried a basic poly, but unlike poly the Marine Yacht Varnish doesn’t yellow and has a thicker denser feel that gives more of the lacquer finished look. No worries about drink stains, spills, etc. - beautiful and functional. My jam!
This is a dresser I found for free. My own paint job and then a couple coats of my shiny secret the Marine Varnish and and a splurge on the beautiful pulls from Modern Matter Hardware it got just the “shine up” it needed!
These beautiful intaglios purchased several years ago from Jill Seale mounted on her marblized paper were framed on green silk. These little pieces were the color inspiration for our happy and shiny guest room!
